The 92 Club was originally born in 1950-51. The top two divisions each consisted of 22 teams (called the First Division and Second Division at the time). The 3rd division was split between north and south, with 24 teams in each division. One team was promoted from 3rd Division North and 3rd Division South into the 2nd Division each season.
Some interesting facts about the 1950/1951 season:
1951/1952
Workington join 92 Club at the expense of New Brighton who resigned
1958/1959
The Third Division North and South combined into the 3rd Division and 4th Division national leagues we still see today
1959/1960
Gateshead finish 3rd bottom of the 4th Division and are not re-elected
1960/1961
Peterborough United join the 92 Club, winning the 4th Division in their first season, scoring 134 goals in the process
1961/1962
Accrington Stanley resigned after 33 games of the season, their record was expunged
1962/1963
Oxford United joined the 92 Club
1969/1970
Bradford Park Avenue finished bottom of the 4th Division and were not re-elected
1970/1971
Cambridge United joined the 92 Club
1971/1972
Barrow finished 3rd bottom and were not re-elected
1972/1973
Hereford United joined the 92 Club
1976/1977
Workington finished bottom and were not re-elected following 4 consecutive bottom 4 finishes
1977/1978
Wimbledon joined the 92 Club
Southport finished 2nd bottom and were not re-elected. They became the last team to not be re-elected before automatic promotion and relegation was introduced

Wigan Athletic join the 92 Club
1986/1987
Lincoln City are relegated to Conference
1987/1988
Scarborough join the 92 Club
Newport County are relegated to the Conference
1988/1989
Lincoln City rejoin the 92 Club
Darlington are relegated
1989/1990
Maidstone United join the 92 Club
Colchester United are relegated to the Conference
1990/1991
Wrexham finish bottom of the league, but are saved from relegation as the league expands to 93 clubs
1991/1992
Barnet joined the league as the 92 Club became the 93 Club
Aldershot were declared bankrupt and kicked out of the Football League. Their record was expunged
Carlisle finished bottom and would have been relegated, if not for the league's planned expansion from 93 to 94 teams
1992/1993
Colchester United rejoined the 92 Club
Maidstone United folded after just 3 years in the league, with their record expunged
Halifax Town were relegated after finishing bottom, as the league abandons its expansion plans
1993/1994
The league returns to the 92 Club after two seasons with 93 teams
Northampton Town finished bottom of the league, but were saved from relegation as Conference champions Kidderminster Harriers' ground wasn't deemed fit enough for league football
1994/1995
Exeter City finished bottom of the league, but were saved from relegation as Conference champions Macclesfield Town's ground wasn't deemed fit enough for league football
1995/1996
Again, no relegation. Torquay United finish bottom, but Conference champions Stevenage's ground is not deemed fit for league football
1996/1997
Hereford United become the first team relegated in 3 years after finishing bottom of the league
1997/1998
Macclesfield Town join the league and make the play-offs at the first attempt
Doncaster Rovers are relegated
1998/1999
Halifax Town rejoin the 92 Club
Scarborough are relegated from the league
1999/2000
Cheltenham Town join the 92 Club
Chester City are relegated
2000/2001
Kidderminster Harriers join the 92 Club
Barnet are relegated
2001/2002
Rushden and Diamonds join the 92 Club
Halifax Town are relegated
2002/2003
The Football League and Football Confernce agree on a two up, two down system
Boston United join 92 Club
Exeter City and Shrewsbury Town are relegated
2003/2004
Doncaster Rovers rejoin the 92 Club and are promoted as Champions at their first attempt
Yeovil Town join the 92 Club
Carlisle United and York City are relegated. Carlisle becoming the first team to play in the top flight to be relegated out of the Football League
